trash novel study

Blog Title: Term 1 Novel Study

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel trash

I found this novel interesting,  because I learnt what it was like to live on a trash heap.

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

National Standard this covers (delete the ones that are not appropriate)

  • Year 7/8  Standard
    • using several pieces of information to make inferences
      using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes
    • I can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words

Games with minimal or no equipment.

Games with minimal or no equipment.

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

Screen Shot 2017-03-12 at 12.32.06 PM.png

The table below shows my understanding of games with minimal or no equipment.
(Fill this table in, in as much detail as possible. )

Examples of Games that need minimal or no equipment.
What equipment would we usually need to play these games.
Why do we play games with minimal or no equipment?
* Tag games
* Sneak up granny
* Duck duck goose
* Captains coming
* Relay games and activities
* Capture the flag
* Drip drip drop

games with minimal equipment can be played any where

they don't take long to set up

they can be modified to there age limits

My Strengths.
Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are focused on my learning because i worked quickly on my learning to get it done in time....

My Next Steps.
Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are get involved because i don't really like the game because i did not enjoy it ....

In writing I have been learning to:
  • use all basic punctuation independently
  • attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)

I have been especially focussing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.

Leadership Peer mediation
What makes a great peer mediator

Leadership is a skill of being able to motivate people and using team work towards a goal. There are 6 traits of being an effective leader they are: Integrity, Trustworthy, Resilient, Goal Focused, Active Thinker and Motivational. My key leadership role for 2017 is being a peer mediator this means I must turn up to my duty on time at the second half of lunch to help around the school with the problem the younger students have.

One of the leadership traits of being an effective leader is being trustworthy being trustworthy means you can be relied on to do your job right. Someone who has shown this has been my 3 teachers. They show trustworthiness when they are help out because if we need some help they won't lie about the how solve it with the strategy. This is very important because if the younger children want help they won't believe you if you lie, but if you tell the truth they will trust you by you helping them solve the problem. As well as  being trustworthy I know that it is important that i am resilient.

Being resilient is a key effective leadership trait it means that the leader is able to solve problems  when time are hard a though. The leaders that have shown this leadership trait is Brianna and Charlotte.k because they never give up when they are in the learning pit and trying to get out. It is strong leadership role because you won't give up when you are trying to solve the issue and when  they don't agree. I will demonstrate this by not giving up when people are giving up when people are not listening to the rules and not agreeing to them, or when they they don't listen if you help them solve the solution, as well as being  resilient I know it is also important to be an active thinker.

One of an important leadership trait is being an active thinker because you think of cool ideas to solve problems. A leader that shows this trait is my 3 teachers because they play great and awesome games with the years ⅞ Zone. This trait is important to my role because you come come up with difference ideas to help the juniors to sort problems out. I will demonstrate this when i they need help with problems.

Lastly I have been talking about showing the 3 traits that are important to my role are trustworthy being resilient and being an active thinker these 3 traits are very very important in my key leadership role

Walt: To write a story suitable to entertain a 5-6 year old
In Australia in 1909 there was a bomb that blew up.  Now there is someone else doing the trouble for the dead bomb. Suddenly a noise was heard all the computers went down people were yelling the whole place went dark.  People were scared.
People yelled, “Where are you black cherry, and black arrow we need you come quick!”
Black cherry and black arrow shot down from the sky, and bomb and bomb the 2nd got an alarm to tell them to run, but black cherry and black arrow started chasing so it started to end up like up wild goose chase with villains and superheroes. Suddenly, the bad guy did a quick turn around into the alley and the superheros banged into a wall and get knocked out. They wake up and there is a big bunch of people standing around them…………….

They tell the people of the world to get out of here and lock themselves their families up in there home where no one would know. Then the people run away into their homes  the superheroes jump back into the sky  and track down the bombs nexts visit they found out that it’s in 1 hour in sydney they fly over there but no one is around they search and search until they find them they fly down and capture them in a metal cage, that they can't blow up in and that takes away their power. Black cherry and black arrow chuck the super villains in the prison cage deep deep deep down in the ground. Then the super heros hope that they don't ever come back again.
